When I only had the arms left to knit, I discovered that I had knit the cables wrong. I had got it wrong on every row, so on the positive side I had at least been consistent. But apart from that, I lost the motivation I needed. The error is that I’ve knitted a knit stitch instead of a purl stitch next to the cable. The result is that the cable is not distinctly separated from the rest of the knitting. I had only done this error on one side of the cable, which made it seem even stranger. Just before Christmas I figured that it is kind of extravagant to have a full bag of alpaca lying as an UFO in the corner of my living room. So I had to make a decision. Either finish the jacket or frog it and make something else. So my Christmas project was to finish the jacket, which I did (after having knitted each of the arms 20 cm/ 8 inches to long – grrr). I continued to knit the cables in the wrong way so that the jacket would at least be totally wrong instead of just partially wrong.
My plan was to use different buttons than the ones on the picture, but I’ve had trouble getting the ones I want. Because I wanted to use the jacket right away, these buttons will do until I find the ones that I want. I think these buttons are a bit too big. It feels really lovely to wear something made of alpaca. It definitively makes winter warmer and easier to live with :-)
