And I realized my heart has abducted my mind. And they were last seen headed south". Så enkelt kan det sies :-)

I’ve been knitting music. At Hobbyboden (a Norwegian discussion forum), Glad Strikkefreak has told about how she came in contact with an artist who was going to make a piece of art made of knitted music tapes. Her problem was how to get hold of knitters to do the knitting. Glad strikkefreak said she could try to organize knitters through a discussion forum, and so she did. Knitting music is not something I do everyday, so I liked the idea. I came across a problem though. I always become very nostalgic every time I see my old tapes. Fortunately, I discovered that I’ve got some editions both on tape and CD, which meant I could use one. First I was thinking of knitting Tracy Chapman, but then I chose a tape with Melissa Etheridge instead. The reason being that it contains my all time favourite text line in the song “Don't you need”, and it goes like this: “And I realized my heart has abducted my mind. And they were last seen headed south”. Sometimes it can be said a simple as that :-)

One of my weaving friends had a music challenge with her weaving group. She did something similar! She threaded her loom with cassette tape and actually wove a shawl! It was insane. Alternate materials rock, pun intended. :-)

What a great idea! I'm sure Melissa Etheridge would be pleased that someone enjoys listening to her music enough to also wear it. If I was to knit a song, what would it be...I'll have to think about it... :)
